The story begins with CA (Computer Associates), which spun off its Ingres line into a separate, open source project. Ingres is now teaming up with open source enterprise content management (ECM) provider Alfresco. The Ingres "Icebreaker" product (linux + database stack) will offer an ECM option provided via Alfresco. That's good for Alfresco, which charges a pretty penny for support. But of interest also is the fact that Ingres is working with BI/Analytics firm Jaspersoft to incorporate a software bundle to complement Salesforce.com.
