Beyond The Relational Database
"Information management" goes way beyond the relational database -- if for no other reason, than simply because relational databases can't handle the entire job. That's the word, at least, from Ambuj Goyal, the new GM of IBM's Information Management group. Information management, in Goyal's view, combines databases, content management, information management, and master data management. Check out Goyal's take on things to learn how each of these is supposed to work -- simultaneously -- and which vendors (there are several) IBM sees itself trying to beat in each part of information management. You can also get updates on the pure database front in the Goyal Q&A, originally from our sister publication CRN. Goyal gives the latest on IBM's Viper database, as well as the new, free version of DB2. E-MAIL | SLASHDOT | DIGG This is a public forum.
