One Survey, Two Angles
Improving access to information: That's the name of the game for IT pros across the board in 2006. We're bringing you the raw data in two stories posted this month on Business Intelligence Pipeline First off, Doug Henschen of Intelligent Enterprise explains that, before anything else, data protection will be Priority Numero Uno for IT organizations' anticipated spending patterns this year. After all, how can you turn raw data into intelligence if the data's, well, not there any more? According to Intelligent Enterprise's 1,100-strong pool of respondents, BI-related technologies follow security as top spending priorities, with the next five vote-getters including content and document management, portals, performance scorecards and dashboards, project management technologies, and enterrprise reporting tools. For another look at the same survey data -- including respondents' biggest complains related to business intelligence and technology vendors -- check out David Stodder's analysis of the study's findings.
